Responsibility

Samsonite sees it as critically important that all parts of its supply chain operate both ethically and fairly.

A comprehensive program of standard setting and monitoring in operation at the company ensures that employees of all its vendors are treated with dignity and respect. Wherever in the world its vendors operate, Samsonite insists that they meet the industry standards enshrined in its own social compliance guidelines.

Samsonite is committed to working with its vendors to help them take greater ownership of labour, health and safety standards in their own facilities, so that they can better comply with best practice guidelines and continue to improve both their policies and practices in a sustainable way.

The guidelines are the foundation of its program and are based on international labour standards set out by UN agency, the International Labour Organisation (ILO). The ILO has as its central tenet that men and women should be able to undertake decent and productive work in conditions of freedom, equality, security and human dignity.

In addition, compliance is regularly monitored both by the vendors themselves and by Samsonite’s own social compliance audit team supported by a roster of three of the world’s best regarded independent social compliance auditors.
